Julianna M. Lavery of Grants, NM, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning on June 17, 2018.

Julianna was born on March 19, 1945, to William H. Lux, Sr., and Julia Lux and was raised in Madeira, Ohio. Julianna graduated from Madeira High School and from California State University, Los Angeles, with a Bachelor of Science, Business Management.

After moving to Grants in 2002 to work in Prewitt, Julianna was privileged to make many friends through her work, as well as at the First Presbyteri­an Church and at the Mount Taylor Quilt Guild. She has been especially grateful for the friendship of Sharon Hicks and Karen Cook and for their help during times of need.

Julianna should be remembered as a woman of independen­t ideas who liked studying philosophy, who enjoyed the company of cats, and who loved making original art--including cut glass, oil painting, and quilting.

Julianna was preceded in death by her parents William and Julia Lux, by her brother William H. Lux, Jr., and by her husband Joseph G. Lavery. She is survived by sisters Juanita Lux, Ellen Lux Bland, brother David, and by numerous nieces and nephews and their children and grandchild­ren.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be held on July 28, 2018 at the First Presbyteri­an Church, 400 Nimitz Dr., Grants, at 11:00 a.m. Donations to the First Presbyteri­an Church are requested in lieu of flowers. Julianna’s ashes will be interred at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
