Virginia Barbieri Mayfield

Beloved mother, sister, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r, aunt, and friend, Virginia Barbieri Mayfield died peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 18, 2018. She was 93.

A lifelong resident of Albuquerqu­e, Virginia was a 1944 graduate of Albuquerqu­e High School and later graduated from Cosmetolog­y School. In 1945, she married Charles Fox Mayfield with whom she had three children. After being widowed in 1955 she continued to raise her three children and supported her growing family as a Payroll Administra­tor for the Federal Government. Virginia was devoted to her family and cherished her Italian roots.

Virginia was one of six children in an Italian immigrant family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Fox Mayfield; father and mother, Domenico and Caterina Barbieri from Tartago, Italy; sisters, Marguerite Barbieri Bailey and Yolanda Barbieri Hewitt; brother, Johnny Domenico Barbieri; and infant granddaugh­ter, Caitlin Estrella Mayfield. She is survived by her three children, Daniel J. Mayfield (Teresa), Catherine Mayfield Powers (Jim, deceased) and Michael Mayfield (Agnes); grandchild­ren, Dan Mayfield and Marietta Revesz (Paul), Diana Gurule (Andrew), and Thomas and Annie Mayfield; great-grandchild­ren, Pete and Irene Revesz, and Bailey Rose Gurule; sisters, Albina Barbieri Mock (Otis, deceased) and Rose Barbieri; and her numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Friday, June 22, 2018, beginning with a viewing at 10:00 a.m., rosary at 10:30 a.m., and funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
