Gregory Carsten

69, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, beloved father, husband, grandfather, brother passed peacefully on June 22, 2018 after a lifelong battle with Muscular Dystrophy.

Gregory was born in Sterling, Colorado, and grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. He moved to New Mexico in 2002. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hiking, and had a true passion for bass fishing. He handed down his love for fishing to both his daughter and granddaughter who will carry on his legacy now and into future generations.

He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in history from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona and carried his love of learning throughout his life. He was rarely found without a book in his hand and a Bob Dylan record playing in the background as he explored and studied art, music, and culture.

He had a big heart, an infectious sense of humor, but to Greg, there was nothing more important in life than his family. His marriage to his wife, Rebecca, the birth of his daughter, Bridget, and his granddaughter, Kennedy, were among the highlights of his life.

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents Norris and Jeanne Carsten. He is survived by his wife Rebecca, daughter Bridget, sister Cynthia, granddaughter Kennedy, and many other friends and family members.

The family would like to thank Robert Martinez, his brother-in-law, for the extraordinary care given to Gregory over the last years.

A Celebration of Life will be held July 2, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at Riverside Funeral Home of Albuquerque 225 San Mateo Blvd. NE (505) 764-9663. Reception will follow at the family home.
