SANTA FE HUMANE SOCIETY

-

Stop by the Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Humane Society to meet Petey, a 4-year-old orange tabby kitty. He has been great with staff, easy to pick up and handle, and is a super sweet and an outgoing guy.

And if a dog is what you’re looking for, meet Alice, a yearold mixed-breed dog who came in to the animal shelter because her owner could no longer care for her. She weighs about 55 pounds and is totally sweet. Alice is the type of girl that would be a great walking buddy and a best friend for life.

These and other animals are available for adoption from the Santa Fe Animal Shelter at 100 Caja del Rio Road. The shelter’s adoption hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Also visit adoptable animals at the Santa Fe Railyard before the “Bring Your Dogs to the Movie” event. Enjoy the movie “Lady & the Tramp” at 8 p.m., along with your well-behaved dogs. The adoption event is prior to the movie, starting at 5 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, from noon-3 p.m. the adoption team will be at PetSmart Santa Fe, 3561 Zafarano Dr.

Until July 4, the shelter is offering fee-waived adoptions courtesy of Best Friends Animal Society. All adult animals over the age of 6 months will be fee-free. The adoption fee for puppies, kittens and Shelter Heroes are 50% off. The society also is giving pet lovers an opportunity to “Pay It Forward” by covering the $25 adoption fee for a future family at more than 260 of its network of rescue facilities and shelters across the country, including this shelter.

To preview pets for adoption, log on to SFHumaneSociety.org or call 983-4309, ext. 1610 to inquire about any of the animals available at the shelter. The shelter will be closed on July 4.
