SUMMERFEST WILL ROCK ROUTE 66
There will be 17 performances on three stages in Downtown Albuquerque this weekend.
The music options during the city of Albuquerque’s Route 66 Summerfest this Saturday are pretty awesome.
There will be 17 performances on three stages from 3 to 10 p.m. in Nob Hill on Central Ave. from Girard Blvd. to Washington St.
This year’s headliner is Grammy Award-winning singer Irma Thomas, the Soul Queen of New Orleans, at 8:30 p.m. on the main stage at Girard and Central. Ranky Tanky also is set to perform on the main stage just before Thomas, at 7 p.m.
For a complete list of performers and start times, vist cabq.gov and put summerfest nob hill in the search box.
The annual event features the Old Route 66 Car Show; Mother Road Art Market, with handcrafted items; Kids’ Zone & Youth Central, with face painting and a rock climbing wall; and food trucks and other entertainment.
The other music stages are at Central and Carlisle, and Sierra and Central.
Parking is available in a lot on the southwest corner of Lomas Blvd. and University Blvd. Free buses will run to the event.
Parking lots and street parking is available in the surrounding area.
There also is a free bike valet, provided by Esperanza Bicycle Safety Education Center, located at Carlisle and Central.
Route 66 Summerfest is free to the public. Pets on leashes are welcome. We welcome suggestions for the daily Bright Spot. Send to newsroom@ abqjournal.com.
