Call it a Coldwater Creek comeback. The women’s specialty clothing company, which used to operate a retail store at ABQ Uptown, is slated to return this fall at 2240 Q Street, Suite 10C, which is the former bebe space, according to the company website.

Coldwater Creek filed for bankruptcy in 2014 and shuttered 300-plus stores around the country, including the one in Albuquerque.

Under new ownership, the company relaunched as a catalog and online-only retailer. Going from clicks to bricks, in early 2018, a new Coldwater Creek store opened in Burlington, Mass., the company’s first brick-and-mortar location in three years. It also opened a new store Monday in Oklahoma City.

“The company’s retail expansion is continuing with the help of Chicago-based design firm RGLA Solutions,

a leading retail design and architecture service firm known for creating compelling store environments,” according to a news release. Coldwater Creek also will open stores this year in Kansas City and Houston.

“Customers today have a variety of preferences when it comes to the shopping experience, including those who want to touch, feel and try on a product before making a purchase,” Brenda Koskinen, Coldwater Creek president and chief merchandising officer, said in a statement.

In addition to Coldwater Creek, ABQ Uptown will also welcome fine jewelry purveyors Kendra Scott and Lee Michaels in late summer, confirmed ABQ Uptown General Manager Chris Soto.

“All three are going to be great new shopping options for folks,” Soto said.
