New Mexicans and all Americans deserve the best, and the United States needs a brilliant Supreme Court judge to faithfully serve our nation.
Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh is an ideal candidate for the “Highest Court in the Land.” He has impeccable and extensive legal credentials that will serve all of us well for decades to come.
Judge Kavanaugh is greatly respected for his intellect, persuasiveness and ability to build consensus. He understands that the role of a judge is to fair-mindedly interpret the law, not create new law.
We, as New Mexicans and as Americans, look to the U.S. Supreme Court as the authoritative voice of fairness and liberty in our country. We need to have complete confidence the newest Supreme Court justice will be honorable, impartial and above all follow the Constitution, not create new law based on personal opinion or personal preference.

Read the text of the Constitution as written, mindful of history and tradition. Don’t make up new constitutional rights that are not in the text of the Constitution. As a federal judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit for more than a decade, Judge Kavanaugh has over 300 published opinions that demonstrate he fully comprehends, supports and rigorously enforces the original understanding of the U.S. Constitution. His opinions are regularly cited by courts across the country, and the Supreme Court has endorsed his opinions more than a dozen times.
He was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in a bipartisan fashion to the U.S. Court of Appeals, and we fully anticipate his superb and exemplary background and experience warrant bipartisan support from the Senate now.
He has broad experience and graduated with honors from Yale Law School. He clerked for Justice Anthony Kennedy of the Supreme Court as well as others, and he was a law partner in a private firm, where he specialized in appellate litigation. Judge Kavanaugh is active in his community, coaching youth basketball, tutoring students at local schools, serving meals to needy families and volunteering at his church. He is a good man with a wife and two school-aged children. He is an athlete who runs marathons and plays basketball.
On the bench, Judge Kavanaugh respects private citizens’ rights and liberty when there are attempts by the federal government to impose onerous regulations on them. Time and time again, he has demonstrated his deep reverence for people threatened by government overreach.
