Española, Escalante crank up intensity for the new season

COACH DEPARTURE: Just weeks before the start of the season, Pojoaque Valley football coach Jorge Oropeza unexpected­ly left to take a job with the Dallas Independen­t School District, said Pojoaque Valley Public School superinten­dent Melville Morgan. The district has been advertisin­g for the job for about a week “and we have a number of applicants,” said Morgan, adding he hopes to name a replacemen­t soon. Assistant coach Patrick Marez has been the interim coach and has been running the recent summer workouts.
