AROUND THE STATE

SHADY LAKES: Two hefty 20-inch trout were caught this week. A 21½-inch trout was caught by Gavin Lynch, 5, of Albuquerque. It was Gavin’s first fish caught. Trout are biting on night crawler worms, salmon eggs and PowerBait. Bass reports have been moderate as the summer heat is here. Bass and bluegill are biting on frog plastics and top-water lures.

ABIQUIU LAKE: The lake level continues to drop, and anglers should use caution when launching boats.

EL VADO LAKE: Due to dropping water levels, the state park has closed access to the boat ramp and use of motor boats. The lake remains open to watercraft such as canoes, kayaks and paddleboards.
