Carol A. Deuel

Carol Alta Deuel, age 82, passed peacefully into Heaven on August 6, 2018. She was the wife of CDR Jamieson K. Deuel (USN Ret.) for 27 years. He lovingly called her "His Silver Fox."

Carol was born on September 21,

1936 to Bob and Ruth Alter in Sweetser, Indiana. She attended Centennial High School in Pueblo Colorado. She married and was a USAF wife living in Fairbanks, Alaska for four years. She fostered several children and later adopted two. Carol studied cosmetolog­y. Later she became an executive secretary for the Colorado school system. In 1991 she married Jamie Deuel and moved to Albuquerqu­e. She was involved with PEO that provides scholarshi­ps for girls. Being from Colorado, she was a die-hard Broncos fan. She and Jamie traveled extensivel­y around the world. She will be remembered for her masterful cooking, love of reading, sewing, singing, gardening (Master Gardener), and the color green.

She is survived by her husband Jamie, sister Janice Kay Beavers (and husband Bob); son Rick Welch; step children Holly Gilster, Beth Deuel, Martha Curran (and husband Jonathan), and Jake Deuel (and wife Teresa); nieces, nephews, grand children, and great-grandchild­ren. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, and her brother Bob Alter.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Carol’s life will be held on Saturday, August 18th at 1pm at Paradise Hills United Methodist Church, 4700 Paradise Blvd NW, Albuquerqu­e, NM 87114. Refreshmen­ts will be served following the service. In lieu of flowers please donate to the PEOat www.peointerna­tional.org.
