Raul Fernandez

During the early morning, in Scottsdale, Arizona, on July 24th, 2018, Raul Fernandez, with his wife Marti, by his side, passed away at the age of 72, from complications of multiple myeloma. He was surrounded with the love of his family for the two weeks prior to his passing, while in hospice.

Raul was born in El Santo, Cuba to Antonio Fernandez and Angelica Castellanos. He lived briefly in Florida, then in the bay area of California, before moving to Albuquerque. He owned and operated DuraBox for over 35 years, and later opened a sister plant, in Chihuahua, Mexico. He was previously married to Cristina Gonzales, with whom he had two daughters, Patty and Cristi. In 1994 he married his forever soulmate, Marti Sikich, with whom he had his four legged boy, Bubba. He is survived by his wife Marti and Bubba, his daughter Cristi and husband Rhys Thom, their two daughters, Anais and Carmen, his brother Tony Fernandez and his wife Linda, his sister Maria Elena and her husband, Walter Ramazinni, his mother in law, Jean Sikich, numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He is reunited with his parents Antonio and Angelica, his little sister Ameridita, his daughter Patty, his father-in-law Pete, brother in law Tom, and many other special people that passed before him.

Raul was smart, a hard worker, witty, funny, handsome, mischievous, fun, and generous all rolled into one. He was special! He could enter a room of strangers, but leave with a bunch of friends. That was Raul. He was Marti’s best friend, but she didn’t mind sharing him with others. Someone that special should be shared. Someone that special will be missed!
