Born November 30, 1940 to Barney and Virginia Gardner, we lost Phyllis Moffitt on the 24th of July, 2018. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her younger brother Laing Gardner, her niece Patricia Higgins and many close friends.

Phyllis is survived by her husband Bruce, her son Walter Deiter, her sister Patricia Higgins and husband Lou, brother Byron Gardner and wife Susan, uncle Jack Petrecca, nephew Lou "Little Lou" Higgins and his wife Denise, nieces Lindsey Gardner and her husband Nate, Erin Gardner and Carol Dyer and her husband Kieth, her close friend "Miss Nancy" McCallion and many other friends and family members that will miss her greatly.

Phyllis earned a BA in Behavioral Psychology from the University of New Mexico and moved to the East where the action was. She became an expert in the training of major sales forces including those of Merrill Lynch, Mercedes Benz, G. D. Searle, Arnar Stone Laboratories, Cole National Corporation and many others. When she was promoted to Vice President of Systema Corporation, her promotion was the first time the Wall Street Journal noted the promotion of a woman to a vice presidency. She was also the first woman to wear a pants suit to the executive dining room of Merrill Lynch, thereby contributing to the freeing of the women there from the daily expense of having to buy stockings.

Later in her career she and her husband were partners with Bob and Sonia Bentley in Casa Vieja Restaurant in Corrales, and owners of Barons Restaurant in Old Town, now Antiquities. Leaving the restaurant business they created Career Placement Systems, a national physician recruiting firm, and then Premier Systems. com, a national website design and management firm. Phyllis retired in 2005 to continue enjoying life with her husband in New Mexico.

She will be interred at the family cemetery plot in Edgewood and a memorial service will be held in the near future. She was a grand woman and will leave a hole in our hearts and many memories. Donations in her memory would be appreciated to Doctors Without Borders. She will be interred at the family cemetery plot in Edgewood and a Memorial Service will be held in the near future.
