WASHINGTON — The Los Angeles Dodgers have bolstered their bullpen, acquiring righthander Ryan Madson on Friday from the Washington Nationals for a minor league pitcher.

The Dodgers have former Albuquerque Isotope Kenley Jansen as their closer, but he’s been shaky since coming off the disabled list.

Madson, 38, was 5-5 with five saves and a 4.08 ERA in 69 games for Washington. He recently came off the DL after being sidelined by nerve irritation in his neck and back.

BREWERS: The busy Milwaukee Brewers acquired veteran outfielder Curtis Granderson from the Toronto Blue Jays for a minor leaguer.

The deal was announced after both teams played Friday night.

Earlier in the day, the playoffcontending Brewers got starter Gio Gonzalez from Washington and reliever Xavier Cedeno from the Chicago White Sox.

The 37-year-old Granderson is batting .245 with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs in 104 games this season. He has reached the playoffs with four teams in his career — Detroit, the Yankees, the Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

BLUE JAYS-INDIANS: Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson has been traded to the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named, ESPN reported.

The 2015 AL MVP has battled shoulder and calf injuries this season and has not played for Toronto since May 28.
