PETS OF THE WEEK

-

ESPAÑOLA HUMANE

Waiting for a home at Española Humane are two fabulous felines. One is an adult and the other a kitten. First, meet Zack, a light-colored domestic shorthair. He enjoys soft pets from kind humans. They might even get him meowing! He is about 2-3 years old and was left in our overnight drop box. So, he is looking for a loving forever home with a comfy spot for him. This sweet boy has done well with other cats here at the shelter. He enjoys watching the world around him and playing with feather toys. He can be a curious cat, too, so you will need to make sure all doors leading outdoors are closed. He is neutered already, so can go home today.

Freddy enjoys being around his favorite humans and getting all the scratches he can. He does well with adults, kids and other cats. He is about 9 weeks old and came to the shelter as a stray. He just loves to play with all sorts of toys. He has not been around dogs, but he is young enough to learn to love them. Sometimes he enjoys being the independent boy and snuggles up in a corner by himself, and a spot of his own may be needed.

These two and many others may be adopted daily from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at Española Humane, 108 Hamm Parkway, Española. 505-753-8662. To see more adoptable pets, log on to www. evalleyshelter.org or www.petango.com.

SANTA FE HUMANE SOCIETY

Stop by the Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society to meet Meet Jack.

This handsome year-old dog who weighs about 10 pounds is super sweet. A perfect day for Jack would include a nice walk with his favorite person, a trip to a doggie training class and lots of cuddles. He’s a very sweet boy looking for a second chance in life.

Meet our friend Spunky. This supersweet feline is 14 years old, but we’re not sure if he’s gotten the memo because he is young at heart. His human friends have said that “he is quite the soft-spoken gentleman.” Spunky loves to be around his friends in the morning and will walk in step with you until he is ready for his mid-morning nap. Soft blankets or pillows are not enticing to him but, instead, he prefers to snooze on a bookshelf or on the cool tile. Come on in today to meet this sweet boy.

These and other animals are available for adoption from the Santa Fe Animal Shelter at 100 Caja del Rio Road. The shelter’s adoption hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Follow the shelter on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. See these and others up for adoption online at www. sfhumanesociety.org or call 983-4309 ext. 610.

Visit adoptable animals in the community during the shelter’s mobile adoption events today and Saturday from noon-3 p.m. at PetSmart Santa Fe, 3561 Zafarano Dr., and on Sunday at a special Get Your Licks on Route 66 event from noon-4 p.m., also at PetSmart Santa Fe.

The Santa Fe Animal Shelter has announced a 50/50 adoption event: The fee for all animals over 50 pounds is now 50 percent off. All animals adoptable through the shelter include spay or neuter surgery, microchipping and ageappropriate vaccinations. The event runs through Sept. 30.
