VOTE FOR Michelle Lujan Grisham for Governor and the axed UNM sports are coming back? What a roller coaster for student athletes. She must know something the rest of us don’t know as far as funding, conference affiliation and Title IX are concerned. Maybe she will release $10 million of state funds to UNM to erase the current deficit, bring the axed sports back, get the Higher Education Department off of Garnett Stokes’ back along with a guarantee of funding all UNM sports while she is in office? Oh Maggie, get those early voting sites opened up ASAP. — ’72 Lobo

I CAN’T BELIEVE two weeks into the season, two NFL games have ended in a tie. Please, this is the NFL, not the YAFL. Even tennis has a tie breaker. — Vince Guillen

NO DOUBT UTEP and Liberty are the two worst teams in the country but could UNM and NMSU be the third and fourth worst teams in the country? The Lobos and Aggies game looked like a couple of YAFL teams with dads being the coaches and putting there son in at quarterback. I predict a three win season for both teams. — NM native

LOCATE TINY homes for the homeless at Dream style Stadium. This would lead to a more effective use of UNM’s real estate (when compared to how it is being used presently) and would represent a rare win for both UNM and the larger community.

THE UNM-NMSU football game might have set college football back a half-century. The Aggie Vision broadcast was horrendous. NMSU will go to UTEP this week to decide the worst team in America. After running 62 plays up the middle, Lobo fans still don’t know if Sheriron Jones can run the option offense. Toss in 15 undisciplined penalties for the Lobos (which are all on Bob Davie) and the fans, if not the team, need this bye week. Let us pray that offensive coordinator Calvin Magee is holding his cards close to the vest for the upcoming MWC games. — JJ COLLEGE AND pro sports broadcasts have become so commercialized it’s not even worth watching games anymore. There’s 2 minutes of the game and 10 minutes of commercials. Soon I’m sure there will be a commercial after every snap of the ball. I guess the only option is to record the game and watch it the next day. How sad it has become. …

KUDOS TO THE Sun Country PGA and their staff for holding the full field NM Open won by Albuquerque native Sam Saunders. Kudos also to the Sandia Resort and Casino golf course and their staff and volunteers for making it such a wonderful event. The course was in spectacular shape. And Notah Begay III was able to participate. Not only is he one of the premier golf analysts and commentators, he does so much for New Mexico youth. Thanks everyone. It was great. — Coach Allan B.
