Hearings represent ‘sewer politics’

-

I WONDER how many New Mexico Democrats, if they have been paying attention to the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings in Washington, are proud of their party’s elected senators who sit on the judiciary committee. I read an article that described their behavior as “sewer politics.” That about sums up my opinion of the proceedings.

After every Democrat on the committee announced before the hearings even began that they would vote no on Kavanaugh’s confirmation, every one of them proceeded to try to destroy the man personally, never mind that he may very well be one of the most qualified individuals to be nominated in recent memory. But once more they put party loyalty as their primary concern and the good of the country be damned.

... After the hearings were over, the private meetings with Kavanaugh had taken place, the behind-closed-doors interviews were over and the only thing left for the committee to do was vote, the senior senator from California, Dianne Feinstien, comes up with a letter from a college professor ... who claims that 36 years ago, while she and Kavanaugh were in high school, that he forced himself on her. Where did this happen? She cannot remember. Exactly when did this happen? She cannot remember. Did he rape you? Well no . ...

This accusation is about as thin as any I can remember, but the purpose is crystal clear. Just one more step in the Democrat campaign to totally ruin a judge whose record is one for anyone to aspire to. I hope the Republicans who run the committee will treat this despicable effort as it should be treated, and if the lady will not come forward with a lot more information than she has provided so far, go ahead and vote Judge Kavanaugh out of committee and go to a floor vote by the end of this month.
