MET TOMMY MCDONALD through a mutual friend in 1997. We talked about his desire to get into the Hall of Fame in 1998, his final year of eligibility. He said that getting in would complete his mission in life. And enter he did, smallest player in the NFL HOF and the first ever from ABQ! Tommy was driven, loved life and had fun at most everything he ever did. And .. he also proved that an athlete, though small in physical stature, can succeed if he’s blessed with a big heart. — Gary Martinez

DEAR NFL: I’m breaking up with you. It’s not me. It’s you. The game bears no resemblance to the game I grew up with in the "70s. It has become a series of commercials, occasionally interrupted by football. The QBs are now untouchable. Defenders can’t play defense. Players disrespect the national anthem. Every 3rd play is a penalty. The game has become dreadful to watch. — Leroy

I LIED! I just can’t give up making fun of chuckle heads! It’s a character flaw. — Larry the VOL

BOB DAVIE says that the Lobos had to call a conservative offensive game against the Aggies because they could not afford an injury to Jones. This was the pivotal game of the entire season and what they could not afford to do is lose. The way it played out, the Lobos were fortunate to win. They should have gone all in. I hope we won’t ever see any more games with play-calling like that regardless of the quarterback situation. — Corrales Guy

FOUR! Tiger Woods hadn’t been the same since his wife took a six iron to his head. Prior to this past weekend, he hadn’t been up to par. — Vince Guillen
