Christian singer-songwriter Kristian Stanfill to play at Calvary Church

- BY ADRIAN GOMEZ

Kristian Stanfill is on tour and tries to find time to work on new music.

The Christian singersongwriter is a busy man these days, having to balance his professional life as a musician with being at home as much as possible and being a husband and father to four children.

“I don’t think everything is ever balanced,” he says in a recent interview. “We try to do it together. Our children know what we’re trying to accomplish with our life. FaceTime is amazing, because I don’t have to miss the events when I’m away from home. What we have is our version of being balanced.”

Aside from his own solo music, the 35-year-old musician is also a worship pastor at Passion City Church in Atlanta and a worship leader at Passion Conferences, which are held around the world.

The songwriting that is being done currently will be released during the Passion Conference in January. The conferences are held in Atlanta, Dallas and Washington D..C.

“We spend a lot of time writing in this part of the year,” he says. “The back end of the year, we start working for the conference. We’re writing new songs and writing with friends in Nashville and here in Atlanta.”

Stanfill’s writing process has changed over the course of his career.

In the beginning, he used to write solo, but as time has moved on, he’s met talented songwriters and now collaborates with a lot of musicians.

“Where I used to finish songs by myself, now I’ll get a strong idea and bring it to someone else,” he says. “Very rarely are there songs that involve just one person. There’s a heartbeat of passion that we capture with each song.”

Although the process has evolved, the place where Stanfill writes from hasn’t.

“I try to remain an open book as much as possible, because we are writing for people, and we all deal with real stuff,” he says. “We’ve had some hard seasons in life. We’ve had some mountains that we’ve had to climb, and it personalizes it for us. I have to remain vulnerable, because the songs connect with people. I believe that God is the giver of all good things. If my words can help people see the hope, then I’ve done my job.”

Stanfill is looking forward to having new music ready for release in January.

“The best part of what I do is being able to see the people come out to the shows and conferences,” he says. “Seeing people come out in droves, it really never gets old for me. I’m blessed to be able to do this for a living and share it with the world.”
