MINIMUM WAGE

Opposes increasing state’s $7.50-per hour minimum wage, saying such a move would cause businesses to close, cut jobs or move.

PERMANENT FUNDS

Opposes taking more money from Land Grant Permanent Fund for early childhood programs, saying such a move could jeopardize state’s bond rating and cause future budget problems.

LEGALIZE MARIJUANA

Opposes legalizing recreation­al marijuana use, saying in a recent debate it would be an “obstacle” for getting people out of poverty. Supports continuing current medical cannabis program.

STATE TAX CODE OVERHAUL

Open to making the gross receipts tax system fairer and simpler by broadening tax footprint and lowering base rate. But says issue would not be his top priority.

TEACHER EVALUATION­S

Would suspend current teacher evaluation system and appoint task force of educators to come up with new system within three months of taking office.

OPEN PRIMARY ELECTIONS

Open to examining idea as way to increase voter participat­ion rates and reduce influence of party insiders.

FILM REBATES

Supports film industry, but has not said whether he would increase or eliminate existing annual cap on film incentive spending.

GUN CONTROL

Opposes statewide ban on sale of semiautoma­tic assault weapons. Says existing firearm regulation­s should be enforced.
