Delmarie

Cleland, 72, was called home by her savior on September 30, 2018.

She entered this world on August 3, 1946 in Seattle, WA, born to Delbert and Norma (Brosseau) Doerschlag. She was preceded in death by infant son, Michael; husband, Roy; and her parents. Delmarie contracted polio at age 3, but it never broke her spirit. She was the March of Dimes poster child in 1953. She attended Browne elementary and Shadle high school in Spokane. Her family moved to Farmington, NM in 1960 and to Albuquerque in 1962, where she graduated from Sandia high school. She attended Eastern New Mexico University. She married David Yeagle and they had a son, Michael. She then found her soul mate, Roy George who loved animals as much as her, especially horses. They married and she became an instant mother to his children, doing so with grace and style.

Roy and Delmarie spent many years in Kansas City, KS until finally settling back in Albuquerque. Delmarie supported her family being a medical transcriptionist.

Delmarie’s faith was a huge part of her life. She developed lifetime friendships and was very active in her parish, Risen Savior. Delmarie faced many challenges in her life including breast cancer but overcame them and continued to thrive and live a full life. Delmarie is survived by her daughter, Julie Novak (Tom) of Leavenworth, KS; brother, Steve (Sandy) of Eaton, CO; granddaughters, Robyn (Billy) of Cowgill, MO and Ashley of Leavenworth, KS; two grandsons, Adam of Lawrence, KS and Nicholas of Kansas City, KS; her two favorite nieces, Kelly Martin (Chris) of Eaton, CO and Kasey (Kyle) Sorden of Johnstown, CO. Delmarie leaves her close friend of 55 years, Joellyn Land and a large circle of dear friends too numerous to name and will be terribly missed by all.

Rosary will be recited Sunday, October 21, 2018, 4:00 p.m., at FRENCH – Wyoming. Mass will be celebrated Monday, October 22, 2018, 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
