Marilyn Judson Nicely, Born on August 4, 1920 in Akron Ohio. She died on May 12, 2018.

After many military moves all over the world, she and her family were residents in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico for 30 years. Subsequent­ly, in late retirement, she and her husband, Edward, moved to the Pohai Nani Retirement Center in Kaneohe, Hawaii.

She is survived by her four sons, Ned Lawrence Kaleiwela of Tauranga, New Zealand; Dana Philip (Cynthia) of Kauai, Hawaii; Todd Judson (Claire) of Pearl City, Hawaii; and Kip Wilson (Evelyn) of Fairfax Station, Virginia. She is survived also by seven grandchild­ren, Zara (James) Kendall, Auckland, New Zealand; Lyle (Pua) Nicely, Honolulu, Hawaii; Dion (Ramey) Nicely, New York City, New York; Jaime (Rob) Cunnane, Pearl City, Hawaii; Cory Nicely, Manly Beach, Australia; Nikki Nicely, Minot, North Dakota; and Judd Nicely of Fairfax Station Virginia; as well as four great grandchild­ren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marilyn attended Akron University (Ohio) and was a performing member of a piano-quartet. She was a graduate, Bachelor of Music, of the Philadelph­ia Conservato­ry of Music.

She taught pianofor many years and was on the faculty of the Oakland City College, Indiana, before her marriage in 1945. Marilyn attended various universiti­es as she accompanie­d her military husband in his travels. She received her Master’s Degree from the University of New Mexico and was a librarian for Albuquerqu­e Public Schools for twenty years. She and her husband were active members of Central United Methodist Church in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico, where she was an usher for a quarter of a century. Marilyn enjoyed traveling, as well as visiting members of her far-flung family. And she thoroughly enjoyed symphony concerts, the Santa Fe Opera, the Honolulu Symphony, and many other cultural pursuits.

Per her wishes, her body was donated to the University of Hawaii Medical School for study there.

Memorial services were held on September 24th and she was interred with her husband at Punchbowl, the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii.
