12, and 8, of Española teamed to catch a 21-inch rainbow trout and a 15-inch Rio Grande cutthroat trout Sept. 29 at Canjilon Lakes. They were using yellow Fire Balls.

8, of Albuquerque caught a 21-inch, 3-pound, 10-ounce carp Sept. 30 at Cochiti Lake. He was fishing by the old marina cove and using worms.

of Pagosa Springs, Colo. caught a 27-inch catfish Saturday at Navajo Lake. He was fishing for smallmouth bass and using a twin-tail grub.

Fishing season ends the last of October. Trout are biting on nightcrawler worms, salmon eggs and power bait. Catch-and-release largemouth bass and bluegill are biting on plastics and top water lures. At MANZANO LAKE, fishing was very good using salmon peach and garlic scented PowerBait, garlic cheese and salmon eggs for trout. Fishing at ELEPHANT BUTTE LAKE was very good using crank baits, swim baits, sassy shad, curly tail grubs and blade baits for white bass. Fishing was good using crank baits, ploppers, senkos, swim baits and spinner baits for largemouth and smallmouth bass. Fishing was good using chicken liver, minnows, homemade dough bait and cut bait for catfish. Streamflow on the SAN JUAN RIVER below Navajo Lake on Monday morning was 603 cfs. Fishing was good using RS2s, fore and afts, red larva, root beers, parachute Adams, dead chickens, midge clusters, foam wing emergers and chironomids for brown and rainbow trout. Through the bait waters, trout fishing was good using San Juan worms, RS2s, copper John Barrs, PowerBait, small jerk baits, worms and salmon eggs. Monday morning flows on the CHAMA RIVER below El Vado and Abiquiu were 283 cfs and 412 cfs, respectively. Trout fishing below Heron Lake was good using prince nymphs, copper John Barrs and bead-head hare’s ears. Trout fishing below El Vado was very good using woolly buggers, green and red copper John Barrs, micro-mays, night crawlers and PowerBait for brown and rainbow trout. Fishing was good using worms for perch. Fishing below Abiquiu was fair to good using woolly buggers and night crawlers for trout. Fishing at FENTON LAKE was good using streamers, Pistol Petes, leeches, worms, Fire Balls and PowerBait for trout. Trout fishing on the JEMEZ RIVER was good using worms, elk hair caddis, copper John Barrs and prince nymphs. Fishing on the CEBOLLA, SAN ANTONIO and EAST FORK was good using elk hair caddis, copper and red copper John Barrs, Fire Balls and worms for brown and rainbow trout. Fishing at NAVAJO LAKE was good using spinner baits, crank baits and plastics for northern pike. Fishing was good using drop shot rigs, crank baits, spinner baits, ned rigs and curly tail grubs for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. At UTE LAKE, fishing was very good using worms, Gulp baits and crank baits for bluegill. Streamflow on the RIO GRANDE on Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 155 cfs. Trout fishing was good using black woolly buggers, pheasant tails, bead head hare’s ears, copper John Barrs, micro mays and night crawlers. Fishing at EAGLE NEST LAKE was very good using worms, PowerBait, spinners and small jigs for perch. Streamflow on the CIMARRON RIVER near Cimarron on Monday morning was 24.6 cfs. Fishing was good using beadhead hares ears, copper John Barrs, San Juan worms, salmon eggs and worms for trout. Fishing was good at CONCHAS LAKE using top water lures, spinnerbaits, chatter baits and square billed crank baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was good using homemade dough baits, cut bait and chicken liver for catfish. At SNOW LAKE, fishing was good using PowerBait for rainbow trout. Fishing at SANTA ROSA LAKE was good using creature baits, spinnerbaits, swim baits, ned rigs, senkos and tubes for largemouth and smallmouth bass. Fishing at EL RITO CREEK was very good using PowerBait, Fire Balls and Gulp trout eggs for trout. At BRANTLEY LAKE, fishing was good using crank baits, top water lures, swim baits, senkos, flukes and ned rigs for largemouth bass and white bass. Fishing was good using liver for catfish.
