Theoleta Ruth Bishop Cain was born in Marshall, Texas on January

28, 1928, the only child of FE and Pauline Shamburger Bishop. Theo grew up in Longview,

Texas, graduating from Longview High School in 1945.

She attended nursing school in Huntsville, Texas. On April 2, 1947, Theo and Ray Lee Cain were married at New Bethlehem Baptist Church, and they enjoyed 66 years of happiness before Ray’s death on January 12, 2013. Most of their married life was spent in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico where Ray worked for the federal government. In Albuquerqu­e, they were faithful members of the Monte Vista Christian Church. Theo’s health started declining and in 2015 she moved to Lubbock to be near one of Ray’s nieces. She passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 and will be buried at Grace Hill Cemetery in Longview, Texas, next to Ray and her parents.

She is survived by Ray’s nieces and nephews, Alyse Cunningham Michalka (Joe) of Lubbock, Shara Michalka of Dallas, Shirley Strauss of Longview, Anyse Cunningham Tinner of Lubbock, Sue Brown (Raymond) of Madill, Oklahoma, Chandler Burnett (Janet) of Whitesboro, and Quentin Burnett (Amy) of Cushing; as well as Ray’s only surviving sister, Una Cain Andrews.

Theo was preceded in death by her husband; parents; niece, Ann Thomas Trussell; and nephew Lyle Kane Burnett.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Grace Hill Cemetery. Our Aunt Theo had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful Christian Lady.
