Sam F. Martinez

Sam F Martinez passed away on October 23, 2018. Born on November 3, 1935, and raised on a ranch in Wagon Mound,

New Mexico where he attended school and was a proud member of his 1954 state high school championship basketball team. After graduating high school he enlisted the US Marine Corps. Following his service, Sam returned to New Mexico and met the love of his life, Mary Jean Thomas, of Las Vegas, New Mexico. Sam and his son Sam Jr were the proud owners of Sam‘s Construction and Drywall for many years. He loved working, telling stories and joking with his friends, as well as spending time with his family and visiting relatives. He was a great father, husband and friend to all.

Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Teodorita Martinez; his daughters, Sandra Gomez and Alicia Quintana, and his brother Luis Martinez. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jean; his son, Sam Martinez and wife, Mae, and his daughter, Michelle Baca; his grandchildren, Desirae, Sam lll, Jerod, Brian, Jacob, Joshua, Adrian, and Audrey; and great-granddaughter, Alyanna, as well as his sister, Dolores Schoonover and his brothers, Edward Martinez and Paul Martinez and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 31, at 11:00am, at Santa Fe Baptist Church, 4977 Agua Fria St. Burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
