NM must clean up its act
I AM an 84-year-old former San Juan County Democratic chairman. I served in the military during the Korean War from May 1951 to March 1955. All of my family were lifelong Democrats. They would turn over in their graves if they saw what was happening today. I was a member of the ACLU until I found out they are a communist/socialist organization.
Back in the 1950s, Sen. Joe McCarthy acted like an idiot, but he wasn’t all wrong — our government is full of communists. Many years ago, President Franklin D. Roosevelt stated, “It is impossible to bargain collectively with the government.” He was right because today unions make it nearly impossible to reward excellent employees or fire failing ones, all the while earning gold-plated benefits that are (paid for by) all of us citizens.
The former Russian premier of the Soviet Union Nikita Khrushchev was right when he made his famous statement during the Cold War about Russia not needing to worry about America, citing that we would destroy ourselves from within. President Bill Clinton lied to me and all of America about his relationship with Monica Lewinsky and about many other women he was involved with. Former Senator Harry Reid made no excuse for all the dirty tricks he used to make sure Democrats were elected, justifying any means to achieve his goal. Now we have Rep. Maxine Waters calling for (confrontations with) any Donald Trump Cabinet member or supporters. … Former Attorney General Eric Holder said that when Republicans go low, don’t go high, but kick them while they’re down. Hillary Clinton recently announced that Republicans aren’t civil and can’t be dealt with. Sen. (Richard) Blumenthal lied about his military service during the Vietnam War and Connecticut elected him anyway. Our own (U.S. Sen.) Martin Heinrich has not served this country in the military, but instead uses a veteran to expound on all the things he has done for the veterans. He does not speak for me and many others, I’m sure. The only military thing about Heinrich and Sen. (Tom) Udall is their AWOL status concerning their connection with the EPA and the Gold King Mine spill. … This mess is still not cleaned up, despite their many assurances. Mayor Tim Keller is doing all he can to turn our city into a sanctuary city with his feel-good policies.
I am no longer a member of the Democratic Party because of its extreme farleft liberal attitudes. It’s not so much that I left the party, but that the party left me. I’m not a Republican, either; I’m an Independent.
