SAN JOSE, Calif. — Jill Olguin’s header of a long flip throw in the 67th minute tucked itself just under the crossbar Tuesday as New Mexico beat Colorado College 3-2 for a berth in the Mountain West Conference women’s soccer tournament semifinals.

That goal was UNM’s programrecord 43rd of the season and gave UNM a 3-2 lead. The Lobos now advance to face fellow co-champion Wyoming at 5 p.m. Thursday.

The third-seeded Lobos also got goals from Jaelyn Hendren and Jennifer Muñoz.

Hendren scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Amelia Bierle just 33 seconds into the game to give UNM a 1-0 lead.

No. 6 Colorado College answered 21 minutes later with a score off a free kick from Lauren Milliet.

Muñoz, the reigning MWC Offensive Player of the Week, gave the Lobos a 2-1 lead with her fifth goal of the year.

Kiley Suter tied it again for Colorado College with her first goal of the season, which came off a corner kick in the 45th minute.

Olguin then put the Lobos on top for good with her fifth goal of the year.

The Lobos improved to 12-5-2 overall while Colorado College finished its season at 9-8-2. The Lobos will now be looking to exact a little revenge against Wyoming, which handed the Lobos their only home defeat of the season, 3-2 on Sept. 23.

ALL MOUNTAIN WEST: The Lobos placed a program-best three players on the team announced Monday: Jessie Hix, Gwen Maly and Muñoz on the first team.
