The Creative Bravos Awards program has announced additional recipients in Legacy, Emerging and Youth categories.

The Creative Bravos Awards program has announced additional recipients in Legacy, Emerging and Youth categories.

All the winners will be honored during a special ceremony this month.

“We have a unique and vibrant creative economy in Albuquerqu­e and it is exciting to recognize each of these Creative Bravos award recipients for everything they bring to our community,” first lady Elizabeth Kistin Keller, who served on the selection committee, said in a statement.

The additional award winners are:

Frank and Pilar Leto, who brought multi-cultural music and dance to the community, in the legacy category.

Montgomery Shirley, whose joy includes seeing art as action such as poetry slam, clowning, a cappella and dancing, in the emerging category.

Maggie Ramos-Mullane, who sees “artwork as a powerful extension of empathy,” in the youth category.

Zavier Thompson, a musician who assists students of all ages “in finding their voice,” also in youth.

Sarita Sol Gonzalez, 13, one of the youngest writers in Albuquerqu­e’s poetry community, also in youth.

Earlier this summer, the city Cultural Services Department revived the decades-long tradition of honoring creative work by artists, programs, organizati­ons, businesses and events that make an impact, the city said in a news release. Previously announced Creative Bravos Awards recipients are: Native Realities, a comic book store near Downtown owned and operated by Lee Francis.

Circo Latino, a summer immersion program offering youth the opportunit­y to learn physical circus skills.

Ebony Isis Booth is a poet, writer, cultural strategist, activist, performer, community organizer and founder of Burque Noir.

Kei & Molly Textiles opened in 2010 with the goal of creating good jobs in the community, especially for immigrants and refugees.

Ideum is a creative company focused on using emerging technologi­es to design public installati­ons and products that lead to meaningful visitor experience­s.

The awards ceremony will be at the KiMo Theatre Nov. 16 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available at www.kimoticket­s.com.
