The Bernalillo County Assessor’s Office, in partnership with Albuquerque-based tech startup Smartloop, recently launched new artificial intelligence chatbot technology to assist local property owners.

The service allows property owners 24/7 access on their property assessment questions, property tax saving programs and many other office resources on the county website.

“We want to offer technologies to connect with our property owners using their preferred communication methods even when our office is closed,” Bernalillo County Assessor Tanya R. Giddings said in a statement.

In addition, the Assessor’s Office has created a page on its website for new homeowners. The new page guides homeowners through the process of property searches, important dates, what a Notice of Value is and property tax savings programs. NEW CIVIL RIGHTS OFFICE: A new Office of Civil Rights at the city of Albuquerque is tasked with informing individuals of their rights in the areas of housing, employment and public accommodations.

The office will support them following the submission of complaints by conducting investigations, providing processes for resolution and making referrals.

The new office will also offer nondiscrimination technical assistance and training for employers, landlords and tenants.

Services will be free of charge to individuals impacted by alleged discriminatory acts occurring within the city.

The office, housed in the first-ever Office of Equity and Inclusion, will be staffed by Managing Assistant City Attorney Torri Jacobus.

Those who feel they have been discriminated against and would like to know more about how the Office of Civil Rights can help them can call 768-4595, email oei@ cabq.gov or visit the office in person at One Civic Plaza, Suite 201, in Albuquerque.
