How Aggies celebrate #GivingTuesday
Donations help fund scholarships, upgrades, enhance reach of NMSU
I always tell my colleagues — when we work together, we have one big brain. And, when we put action behind that, we also make a bigger impact as one big heart. That’s what New Mexico State University’s #GivingTuesday is all about — using our collective affinity for NMSU to make a life-changing impact in just one day. What we all bring on #GivingTuesday — large or small — directly benefits our students with critical scholarships, transforms classrooms for our world-class faculty and equips staff with new tools that enhance the reach of NMSU throughout the state and the nation.
This is our day to show the world that Aggies take care of Aggies. And, we’ve been doing that so well over the last three years since the NMSU Foundation first led the charge to localize the international movement to NMSU. Since 2015, hundreds of supporters have joined forces to raise more than $11 million in the last three #GivingTuesday events.
Now, as we are entering our fourth year of #GivingTuesday, we recognize that together we have already met hundreds of needs. Yet, many continue to emerge because of who and how we serve. Every year, NMSU brings in more first-generation Aggies and continues to recruit highly talented faculty. Scholarships keep these deserving students enrolled, and professorships provide the resources faculty need to create industry-based curriculum for our students and future workforce. And, as our campuses expand with more students, faculty and staff, our facilities must expand as well.
All of this exciting growth requires regular support from those who believe in us most — our community of Aggies, including proud alumni, like me, friends, faculty, staff and current students. #GivingTuesday is the day where we address these new needs and come together to meet them. Thanks to generous donors to the NMSU Foundation, many proud Aggies and friends have made special gifts to serve as matching dollars on #GivingTuesday. This means that depending on how or when you donate on #GivingTuesday, your gift could be matched dollar-for-dollar. For example, if you give online or in-person, your gift will be matched up to $500 per household to any charitable fund or program of your choice. Challenges like these bring Aggie allies to our day of giving who want to multiply their impact to whatever they choose to support.
