Gillespie helps Villanova knock off No. 14 Florida State

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Collin Gillespie had 17 points, including two key late free throws, and Villanova won the AdvoCare Invitation­al by beating No. 14 Florida State 66-60.

Gillespie made it 64-60 by connecting on a pair of free throws with 11.2 seconds left in what was a tight second half.

Eric Paschall had 15 points and Phil Booth chipped in 12 for the defending national champions (5-2).

Florida State (5-1) got 11 points from both Mfiondu Kabengele and Trent Forrest.

OKLAHOMA STATE 90, No. 19 LSU 77: Also in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., Cameron McGriff had 28 points, Lindy Waters added 16, and Oklahoma State defeated LSU

No. 8 STANFORD 81,

HAWAII 59: In Honolulu, Alanna Smith scored a season-high 30 points before Stanford’s game against Hawaii was called with 48.2 seconds left when Cardinal guard Anna Wilson got hurt Sunday.

The junior guard, who is the sister of NFL star Russell Wilson, fell backward and hit a chair while playing defense according to Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer.

While she was being treated on the court, the officials and coaches decided to end the game. The Cardinal won the game 81-59 in the Rainbow Wahine Showdown.

No. 10 TEXAS 72, FORDHAM 54: In Estero, Fla., Sug Sutton scored 17 points, Jatarie White added 16 and Texas clamped down defensivel­y late to beat Fordham in the championsh­ip game of the Gulf Coast Showcase on Sunday night.

Charli Collier scored 11 and Destiny Littleton added 10 for the Longhorns (6-0).

Bre Cavanaugh had 18 for Fordham (4-3).

No. 21 MISSOURI 62, DUKE 54: Also in Estero, Fla., Hannah Schuchts made every shot she took except a free throw in the final seconds, setting career highs with six 3-pointers and 25 points, to lead Missouri to a win over Duke for fifth place in the Gulf Coast Showcase on Sunday.

Schuchts, a junior forward whose previous career game highs were four 3-pointers and 12 points, was 8-of-8 shooting and 3 of 4 from the line, her only miss coming with 18 seconds left.

No. 24 MIAMI 73, TEMPLE

61: In Coral Gables, Fla., Beatrice Mompremier scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for her fifth double-double this season and Miami defeated Temple.
