RESEARCH BUS MAKES STOP IN ABQ
Initiative seeks to build database to help improve health
Aim of traveling exhibit is to speed up medical breakthroughs.
The All of Us Research Program bus — with hands-on exhibits about its national effort to speed up medical breakthroughs — is in town through Friday, as well as for nine days in December.
The Public Library Albuquerque and Bernalillo County are hosting the traveling exhibit on behalf of the National Institutes of Health’s All of Us Journey. The initiative is seeking one million volunteers to share different types of health and lifestyle information, such as where they live, what they do and their family health history, to build a database with a goal of revolutionizing ways to improve health and treat disease.
The program plans to create a research resource to inform thousands of studies, covering a wide range of health conditions so researchers learn more about different diseases and treatments, organizers said in a news release.
The bus will be on Third Street outside the Albuquerque Convention Center today through Friday and Dec. 3-7. Drop in any time between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to enroll in this nationwide research study, organizers said.
In addition to its stop in Downtown Albuquerque, the All of Us Journey bus will be visiting other locations in New Mexico as follows:
Dec. 10 at the Juan Tabo Library — 3407 Juan Tabo NE in Albuquerque
Dec. 11 at True Health New Mexico — 2440 Louisiana NE, Albuquerque
Dec. 15 at the Downtown Plaza, Las Cruces
Jan. 12, 2019, at Walgreens — 3400 Coors NW, Albuquerque
Jan 16, 2019, at UNM Smith Plaza, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque
Albuquerque is one stop on the All of Us Journey’s national tour.
