Alice Patricia Nebe

-

Alice Patricia Nebe, age 95, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away in comfort on November 1, 2018 surrounded by loved ones.

Alice was born in Gary, IN in 1923, the youngest of six children of William and Jennie (Johnston) Heinrich. She married her lifelong love, William C. Nebe, in 1943. Alice was never afraid to chart her own course, being one of the few women who continued to work after the war and eventually earning her own pension. She was a skilled dancer and baker, with pies as her specialty. Alice was known for her great sense of humor, Jack in the Beanstalk bedtime stories and most notably her unique and exotic descriptors of food, "gorgeous hunk of cheese" and "beautiful tomato." After her retirement, she was able to focus on her passion of writing short stories and poems.

She was our beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her spouse of 68 years, William. She is survived by her daughter, Linda McIlwain and husband, Stephen of Albuquerque and son, William Nebe and wife, Kathy of Visalia, CA; grandchildren, Christopher and Janet McIlwain, Mary McIlwain and Aaron Arendt, Gena and Kevin Dunivan, Chase Nebe, Natalie and Spencer Hodgin; and six great-grandchildren, Zoe and Cole McIlwain, Charlie, Jimmy and Ben Dunivan and Charlotte Hodgin.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated Friday, December 7, 2018, 10:00 a.m., at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 601 Montano Rd. NW. She and her husband will be laid to rest together at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thanks for the exceptional love and kindness given to Alice at the Wellesley Care Home and Hospice De La Luz.
