METRO AREA PLAYERS TO WATCH

- — James Yodice

David Patterson, 6-3, sr., G/FW, Rio Rancho: Comes from a long line of athletic siblings, and has signed with the Air Force Academy.

Zanen Zeller, 6-3, sr., PG, Los Lunas: A great passer and floor leader who has signed with Biola University in southern California.

Jalen Munn, 6-4, sr., W, Cleveland: This New Mexico Highlands signee is one of the most versatile and exciting players in Class 5A.

Joziah Ramos, 5-8, jr., PG, Atrisco Heritage: Can be a scoring machine from the 3-point line, and averaged almost 18 points a game as a sophomore.

Kameron Valencia, 6-4, sr., FW, Eldorado: Few players in the 5A division have the capabilities of Valencia, who has plenty of game inside and outside.

Eloy Medina, 6-2, jr., G, West Mesa: This is his third season as a starter, and he can light it up from the arc. And with his size, a tough matchup out there.

Derek Aeilts, 6-4, jr., G, La Cueva: He easily can put up 20 points a night. An excellent 3-point shooter.

Aamer Muhammad, 6-0, sr., PG, Cleveland: Another supremely talented guard for the Storm, with plenty of scoring firepower. Great 3-point threat.

Tyler Quintana, 6-1, sr., PG, Eldorado: Switching positions makes him more dangerous; he’ll have the ball in his hands more often.

Johnny Nitafan, 5-10, sr., G, Hope Christian: Nitafan is possibly the most proven individual commodity on what might be New Mexico’s most proven team commodity.

5 MORE ON THE RADAR: Jeremy Lopez, 6-1, sr., G, Rio Grande ... Tyler Allen, 6-2, sr., FW, Manzano … Reyes Herrera, 5-10, sr., SG, Bernalillo ... Abenicio Maestas, 5-9, jr., PG, Cottonwood Classical Prep ... Derick Chavez, 5-10, soph., SG, Valley.
