TV pilot being filmed here by Amazon Studios will employ 100 NM crew members

Mehar Sethi’s latest project is making its way to Albuquerque. The writer is known for working on such shows as “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “BoJack Horseman,” “The Mick,” “La Balada de Hugo Sanchez” and “Robot Chicken.”

His next project — which is untitled and he is writing — is a pilot based on the U.K. series “People Just Do Nothing.” It is being produced by Amazon Studios and Roughcut TV.

“We’re thrilled to welcome back Amazon Studios to New Mexico,” said New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. “Our state’s unique history, crew, support services, and a very successful tax credit have drawn the producers back to our thriving industry.”

According to the New Mexico Film Office, principal photography is taking place through mid-December in Albuquerque.

The project is a mockumentary following a group of working class DJs and their friends in a town called North Las Vegas: a land of mini malls and vast parking lots, where the lights of The Strip act as a beacon of fame and glory that’s just out of reach.

The series tracks their stumbling ambitions and explores how relationships between friends and family evolve as the reality of your dreams starts to hit. It’s a sloppy celebration of life in the suburban Southwest.

According to the Internet Movie Database, the series stars Eliza Bennett, Jorge Diaz, Amir Talai, Andre Hyland and Conner McVicker.

The film office says the production will employ 100 New Mexico crew members, six New Mexico actors and approximately 160 New Mexico background talent.

The pilot is directed by Christ Storer.
