NOT THAT comparing college FB scores is the best barometer, BUT ..... UNM beats Incarnate Word 62-30 and Montana State beats them 35-14. Now wouldn’t UNM and NMSU fit better into the Big Sky Conference where they could be geographically located and competitive? Not sure if this or anything would help. … — MP MAYBE THE WAY to fill University Stadium for a Lobo football game is to advertise that Garth Brooks will perform at halftime. He completely filled Notre Dame stadium. The price of admission would be you have to endure a Lobo football game. — Bob, UNM Area

BYE BYE FANS: I have been a supporter of Lobo football for years, attending many games. The program is in a downward death spiral with no end in sight. Performance has deteriorated, attendance has evaporated, ticket sales and revenue will soon be below 10,000 per game and creative coaching has disappeared. Keeping Davie around is an insult to Lobo fans. — Jonathan Stein

THE NEW MEXICO BOWL has Utah State at 10-2 and North Texas at 9-3. Not national powerhouses but still two teams with decent records. Now, how many of the local “sports fans” are going to gripe about the match-up and declare “I’m not going to this lousy game!” People here won’t be satisfied unless they see Alabama or Notre Dame in the NM Bowl. Don’t hold your breath. And yes, I will be attending the bowl game. — Joe, ABQ

REGARDING ALL the people who love to hate Rudy the attorney, I wish we had more people like him. He is not a fair weather fan or friend. He has supported the Lobos good or bad, win or lose for decades. Yes he’s loud and sometimes obnoxious at games but he’s always there rooting for his team. Everyone would be better off to have a “Rudy” behind them! You go Rudy, ignore the haters. — KLAW

WHAT DO PROGRAMS like Notre Dame, Colorado, and Pitt have that UNM doesn’t? Loyal fans. I’ve seen Folsom Field when the Buffs are less than successful. Stands are full. You want a top notch FB program? Fill up the stadium so recruits see the fans are loyal, not fair weather. Coaches can be successful. Student athletes can train well. Be supportive and stop whining. — D
