Azubuike injured in Kansas win over Wofford

UConn women extend regular-season win streak

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Dedric Lawson had 20 points and eight rebounds as No. 2 Kansas beat Wofford 72-47 on Tuesday night after center Udoka Azubuike left with a right high-ankle sprain.

Azubuike was injured after landing awkwardly on a block attempt midway through the first half, and coach Bill Self said the 7-footer will be out indefinite­ly.

The Jayhawks (7-0) once again started in sluggish fashion and led by three at halftime. A second-half push kept their undefeated season alive, as they outscored the Terriers 43-21 after the break and 26-6 in the final 10 minutes. No. 5 MICHIGAN 62, NORTHWESTE­RN 60: In Evanston, Ill., Ignas Brazdeikis scored 13 of his 23 points in the second half and Jordan Poole made two big plays in the last 2½ minutes to help Michigan hold off Northweste­rn.

Poole finished with 15 points as the Wolverines (9-0, 2-0 Big Ten) added to their best start since they opened the 2012-13 season with 16 straight victories. No. 8 AUBURN 67, UNC ASHVILLE 41:

In Auburn, Ala., Austin Wiley scored 14 points, Samir Doughty added 13 and Auburn won despite a season low in points.

The Tigers (7-1) forced 25 turnovers and blocked 12 shots to overcome their offensive struggles. No. 22 MISSISSIPP­I STATE 90,

MCNEESE STATE 77: In Starkville, Miss., Lamar Peters scored 27 points, Reggie Perry added 15 and Mississipp­i State pulled away in the second half to beat McNeese State.

Mississipp­i State (7-1) needed a 19-0 run early in the second half to finally take control of a game that was much more competitiv­e than anticipate­d. McNeese State (2-6) had a 42-39 halftime lead and briefly stretched its advantage to four points in the opening minutes of the second half.

No. 25 FURMAN 98, ELON 77: In Elon, N.C., Alex Hunter scored all of his 18 points in the second half, and Furman won its first game since the program’s debut in the AP Top 25.

Matt Rafferty also scored 18 points and Clay Mounce added 17 for the Paladins (9-0), who cracked the rankings this week thanks to an early-season résumé that includes road victories over defending national champion Villanova and Loyola-Chicago, which made the Final Four last season.

EASTERN N.M. 77, ARKANSAS TECH

69: In Plano, Texas, the Greyounds (4-4) overcame a nine-point first-half deficit to defeat the Wonder Boys (2-5).

Eastern was led by Nick Brown, who scored 21 points, and Chukuka Emili, who had team highs with seven rebounds and two blocks. NORTHERN N.M. 87, WESTERN N.M. 79: In Silver City, Makye Richards scored 24 points to lead NNMC over the Mustangs. Jon-Reese Woodson led WNMU with 19 points.

No. 1 UCONN 98, SAINT LOUIS 42: In St. Louis, Napheesa Collier had 22 points and 11 rebounds, Katie Lou Samuelson scored 20 points and top-ranked UConn beat Saint Louis.

The Huskies (8-0) have won 123 consecutiv­e regular-season games. Crystal Dangerfiel­d added 18 points. No. 5 LOUISVILLE 102, UT MARTIN 62: In Louisville, Ky., Asia Durr scored 25 points, Arica Carter had 16 and Louisville’s defense stifled UT Martin. No. 21 DRAKE 91, CLARKE COLLEGE 43: In Des Moines, Iowa, Becca Hittner scored 23 points to lead Drake past Clarke College.
