Fidelity brings 48 new jobs to Mesa del Sol
Company’s plans disclosed at annual AED luncheon
Fidelity Investments is hiring for 48 new jobs at its Mesa del Sol location, Albuquerque Economic Development President Gary Tonjes announced Thursday at a luncheon.
He said the company is “adding 48 technical help desk roles to Albuquerque to help Fidelity employees across the country.”
“Fidelity has about 1,000 people working on site at Mesa del Sol,” he said.
Leean Kravitz, director of public affairs for Fidelity, said the company has already hired a few people to fill the positions. Those who are hired must go through full-time classes offered at the Fidelity facility.
“We have the first class for new hires set up for January, with two more classes set before our goal having all of these positions filled by May 1st,” Kravitz said.
Starting pay for associates begins at $18 an hour.
Becky Prescott, vice president of operations at Flagship Food Group, outlined the boost in production that means 90 new jobs.
Prescott, at the luncheon, said she came on board with Flagship, the company that distributes the 505 Southwestern Brand, a few months ago but has hit the ground running on spreading the word about its products.
The manufacturing location for the company is near Renaissance across the street from the Costco and Sam’s Club.
“This location was opened up to food manufacturing about four years ago,” she said. “We’ve got about 200,000 square feet of manufacturing space that we use to make our salsas.”
Prescot said 505 brand products have gone nationwide, and is served at the Broncos’ stadium in Denver and other sporting arenas around the country.
“We have one of the largest organic brands in the world,” she said. “We have the fastest growing salsa, green chile, and chip brand in the U.S.”
Prescot said 505, which gets it ingredients from Hatch, expects to use 23 million pounds of green chile next year.
