TEEN THRILLER

Third season of New Mexico-filmed ‘T@gged’ released on Hulu

It’s been a long period of waiting for fans of the New Mexico-filmed series “T@gged.”

But today, the third season is out on Hulu.

“This has been hard, because the fans had to wait an additional six months,” says Hannah Macpherson, creator and director of the series. “It’s going to be great to finally have it out.”

“T@gged” filmed in late October 2017. The series’ first two seasons aired on Verizon’s Go90 platform, until it went away this year. Hulu then agreed to air the series.

The series stars Lia Marie Johnson, Lulu Antariska, Katelyn Nacon, Emma Dumont, Noah Centineo and Timothy Grandaderos.

The series follows three teenage girls — Hailey, Rowan and Elisia — who become inexplicably connected after violent videos are sent to them from an unknown user known.

Macpherson says the third season is much scarier and sexier.

“It’s much a much more mature season,” she says. “We’re trying to grow up with our fans. This season is more powerful, and there’s a new villain, who is much more twisted than usual.”

Macpherson also says the new season is a continued exploration of what happens when you overshare on social media and how vulnerable you make yourself online.

“It’s a show that is very current,” she says. “I think that’s why the fan base enjoys the show. It’s authentic to the teen experience and having to live a huge part of your life through your phone. It’s about how wonderfully it connects people, but also how lonely it can be with no human interaction.”

Macpherson says the production used a lot of New Mexico cast and crew members.

Production took place during a 35-day shoot.

The biggest struggle was getting all of the main actors’ schedules to sync.

“When we started the series, the main actors were just starting out,” Macpherson says. “In the three seasons, Lulu, Katelyn, Emma and Noah all became bigger stars. We had to shoot an outdoor sequence during the first week of December, and we were up in Jemez. It was grueling because we had to make it look like it was summer.”

All three seasons are streaming on Hulu.

Macpherson is looking forward to having more seasons of the show.

“I always wanted to bring productions back to New Mexico,” she says. “This is one that we’ve had fun with.”
