Paul Edward Butler, 89, passed away December

5, 2018 at Solano House Assisted Living in Albuquerqu­e, NM with family and loved ones by his side.

He was born on December 5, 1929 in New York City, son of the late Marie and Paul Butler, and last surviving sibling to Marguerite Durkee-Niehaus, Michael Butler, Rosemarie McGettigan, Ann Stisser, and Daniel Butler. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Joan Butler; and four children, Michael, Peter, Alison, and David; and grandson, Matthew. He is survived by his daughters, Grace Whiteman (husband Chris), Ashleigh Candelaria, and Darcy Candelaria; his wife of 9 years, Cecilia and her children, Christina Villa-Robertson, Clifford Villa and Curtis Villa and their families. He was the proud Papa to seven grandchild­ren, David Vickery (wife Lisa and their daughter Samantha), Jessica Loghry (husband Jackie and their children Liv, Ava, and Kaden), Michael Butler (wife Amber and children Skylar, Lily, and Brooklyn), Matthew Butler (his widow Brittany and daughter Sarah), Stephanie Shorkey (husband Curtiss), Ashleigh Candelaria, and Darcy Candelaria. He was also elated to be Step-Papa to Cecilia’s grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

Paul served in the US Navy from 1949-1969, active during the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Korean War, and the Vietnam Conflict, as well as instructin­g ROTC at UNM and was honored to be a Chief Gunner’s Mate and retire as Chief Butler. He then went to work for Presb yterian/Anna Kaseman Hospitals as Chief of Maintenanc­e. He was always inspired to create through gardening, stained glass art, house re-modeling, landscapin­g, etc. He deeply appreciate­d and valued his time with the church, just as he enjoyed one-on-one conversati­ons, small get-togethers, and huge gatherings and reunions. Paul loved people... and people loved Paul.

Rosary will be recited Monday, December 10, 2018, 11:30 a.m., with Mass honoring Paul being celebrated at 12:00 p.m., both at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave. NE. Friends may visit beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date. Fair Winds and Following Seas, Chief.

Rose Arellano,

Age 85, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018. Rose was a very loving mother she enjoyed spending time with her entire family and welcoming new family members. She loved life and was the glue to our family. She always encouraged her family to hold their heads high and to persevere. She loved her friends and appreciate­d her caregivers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio J. Arellano and Lucia Jaramillo; son, Randy Benton; granddaugh­ter, Roseanne Mehling; sisters Bertha Vargas and Lucille.

Rose is survived by her brother Nick Arellano; children, Angela Ward and husband, Randy, John Benton, Gigi Arellano, Jodine Curtis and husband, Jack, Becky Garcia and significan­t other, Gerard, Frances Brand and significan­t other Tony, Berda Eckroat and husband, John; she was Nana to 23 grandchild­ren, 45 great grandchild­ren and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 10, 2018 from 6:00-6:30 pm at Garcia Mortuary ~ Chapel of Angels on the corner of 8th and Iron with a Celebratio­n of Life to follow at 6:30 pm. A Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption, 811 Guaymas Pl. NE with Interment to follow at Fairview Memorial Park.
