Woman accused of domestic abuse of fiancé

Actress/beauty queen charged with battery on former cop

The actress and beauty queen fiancée of a former Albuquerque police sergeant was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of battery against that former officer.

The ex-sergeant, Patrick Ficke, resigned from the police department in 2013 after he was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence against his ex-wife.

Albuquerque police officers on Sunday arrested Annittra Atler, 46, on battery against a household member and battery charges. She was booked and

released from jail early Monday morning and couldn’t be reached for comment Tuesday.

Police arrived at Atler’s home in the 1400 block of Villa Los Ranchos, where Ficke with “tears in his eyes” told officers that Atler had beat him up, according to a criminal complaint filed in Metro Court. He pointed to a red abrasion on his left forearm. Court documents state that Ficke and Atler are engaged.

Ficke told officers that the fight started because Atler’s son was caught watching pornography on his mother’s work computer, and Ficke said Atler’s son was “acting stupid.” He said that during the fight, Atler pushed him when he was in the couple’s bedroom and he fell into a dog kennel, which ended the argument.

Atler corroborated how the fight started, but said it didn’t become physical, according to the complaint.

Atler is the special education support principal for Albuquerque Public Schools, according to a district spokeswoman. She also is a former beauty queen, earning the Ms. Woman United States title in 2015, according to KRQE-TV. She also has a role in “Better Call Saul,” according to the IMDb profile.

During last weekend’s altercation, Ficke told police he called the mother of his child, Veronica Lewandowski, to pick up Ficke’s son, who was also in the house at the time. Police contacted Lewandowski and her son told officers that he tried to intervene in the dispute, and Atler slapped him in the face. Police couldn’t see any mark on the child’s face, according to the complaint.

Ficke in 2013 resigned from his position as sergeant of Albuquerque’s narcotics unit after he was arrested for assaulting his wife, Veronica Ficke.

The argument in the 2013 case happened when Ficke returned home after a day of drinking at Marble Brewery and got into a fight with his then-wife, who was an Albuquerque police detective. Charges against Ficke eventually were dismissed.

Gilbert Gallegos, a police spokesman, said the department doesn’t have a policy requiring it to seek out an outside agency or a supervisor in a case such as this, when a former officer is part of the investigation. Gallegos did say that a supervisor approved the criminal complaint against Atler.

A sheriff’s deputy is listed as the arresting officer in Atler’s jail records.

The complaint doesn’t mention that Ficke worked for Albuquerque police.
