What you need to know about New Mexico: The Lobos will look for a program-record 12th straight win tonight at a venue where they haven’t had much success. UNM has lost seven straight games at cozy Cox Pavilion dating to 2011. (The Lobos have twice beaten UNLV at the Thomas & Mack Center during that span.) Pace and rebounding will be keys for New Mexico tonight as the Rebels much prefer a slow, grinding style. UNM was outrebounded and had few fast-break opportunities in Saturday’s 66-64 win at Nevada. Nunn and McClure spent most of that game in foul trouble and they will need to be more involved tonight. The Lobos may employ some zone defense as UNLV shoots just 27 percent from 3-point range. What you need to know about UNLV: The Lady Rebels have been a mess through the first two months of the season and injuries have been a big part of the problem. Key starters Powell and Strawther have missed significant time with injuries and only recently returned to the lineup. UNLV has struggled to score regardless of which players are on the floor, averaging a Mountain West-worst 56.4 points per game. The Rebels have reached 70 points in a game just once this season. They also rank last in the MWC in defensive field goal percentage. (Wyoming went 33-for-56 from the field in Saturday’s 90-62 romp.) Cibola High grad Kavionnia Brown has played in all 13 games, averaging one point in 9.1 minutes per contest.
