SF ANIMAL SHELTER & HUMANE SOCIETY

Stop by the Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society to meet

Zeus. He is a 3-year-old Great Dane mix who currently weighs about 105 pounds. He came to the shelter because his owner could no longer care for him and he is now ready for a new family. He is a sweet dog who is looking for a second chance. As always, if you have other dogs at home, you’re more than welcome to bring them in for a Meet n’ Greet.

This week’s feline looking for a friendly home is named Rufus. He is a 9-month-old shorthaired cat. He came to the shelter as a stray and is ready to find a new home. Rufus weighs about 7 pounds. He is a super sweet and playful little guy. Come in to meet him today.

These and other animals are available for adoption from the Santa Fe Animal Shelter at 100 Caja del Rio Road. The shelter’s adoption hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You can see others pets for adoption online at www. sfhumanesociety.org or call 9834309 ext. 610. The shelter will be closed on July 4 in observance of Independence Day.

Today (Sunday, June 30), come celebrate the shelter’s 80th birthday. There will be adoptions from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., plus entertainment, food trucks, face painting, free nail trims and low-cost vaccinations.

On July 6, there will be an adoption event and food drive. Meet adoptable cats and dogs and help fill the shelter’s cupboards with muchneeded food. Noon-3 p.m., Lexus of Santa Fe, 6824 Cerrillos Road.

ESPAÑOLA HUMANE

Come and meet two cute canines who would like to find forever homes. First up is Calypso, a 2-year-old chocolate Chihuahua mix who was found as a stray. She showed up on a doorstep with an abscess on her face, which was so swollen that she could not even blink. Our vets got her right into surgery, we pulled a tooth and drained the abscess, and removed foxtails that had traveled up through her gums toward her eye. She is still recovering in our care, but please stop by and visit with her.

Curie was found in our overnight drop area in pain and unable to use her hind left leg. On further examination and after x-rays, we discovered the head of her femur was fractured and her hip joint didn’t fit together any more. Since then, she has had a surgical procedure where she has gained mobility and the pain has eased. This energetic love bug has recovered so quickly. Come meet Curie. She will surprise you. She is about 6 months old and ready for a new beginning.

These two and many others may be adopted daily from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at Española Humane, 108 Hamm Parkway in Española. 505-753-8662. The shelter will be closed on July 4 in observance of Independence Day. To see more adoptable pets, log on to www. espanolahumane.org or www. petango.com.

Come make a furever feline friend in a new location. The shelter has opened a Cat Coral at Sunrise Springs resort, 242 Los Pinos Road in La Cienega. Every Tuesday and Thursday in July, there will be public adoption hours from 1-4 p.m., as well as by appointment. For more info, call 423-3360 or visit www. espanolahumane.org.
