Gurriel, Astros power past Colorado

DENVER — Yuli Gurriel homered twice and drove in four runs to lead the Houston Astros over the Colorado Rockies 9-8 on Tuesday night.

Jose Altuve had four hits and Gurriel and George Springer finished with three hits each to help the Astros win their fourth straight.

Colorado led 8-5 entering the seventh, but Houston rallied to go ahead. Gurriel’s two-run homer off of reliever Jake McGee (0-1) capped a fourrun inning that was started by three straight doubles.

Gurriel also homered in the second inning and doubled home a run in the third.

Will Harris (3-1) worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth to get the win and Roberto Osuna got his 18th save. DODGERS 5, DIAMONDBAC­KS 4: In Los Angeles, Cody Bellinger drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk in the ninth — the fifth walk by Arizona relievers in the inning — and the Dodgers beat the Diamondbac­ks.

Arizona led 4-3 when the ninth inning began but walked home two runs.

ANGELS 9, RANGERS 4: In Arlington, Texas, Justin Bour delivered a two-run single on the first pitch he saw after replacing injured American League All-Star Tommy La Stella, and grieving Los Angeles beat Texas.

A few hours after watching with his teammates as manager Brad Ausmus struggled to keep his composure in a news conference to discuss Tyler Skaggs’ shocking death, Jonathan Lucroy had a tying two-run single in the sixth inning and finished with three RBIs.

RAYS 6, ORIOLES 3: In St. Petersburg, Fla., Charlie Morton struck out six straight batters and a season-high 12 overall, and Tampa Bay beat Baltimore for its fourth straight win.

Morton (9-2) pitched seven innings, two days after being named to the American League All-Star team. It was the 10th time in 18 starts that Morton has given up one run or fewer.

METS 4, YANKEES 2: At Citi Field, Michael Conforto busted out of his slump in a big way, hitting a tworun double that snapped an eighthinni­ng tie and lifted the Mets over the Yankees.

The Yankees failed to homer for the first time in 32 games — ending their major league-record streak.

RED SOX 10, BLUE JAYS 6: In Toronto, a red-hot Rafael Devers extended his six-game hitting streak to a third country.

David Price pitched six innings to win his fifth straight decision, Devers homered twice and matched his career-high with six RBIs, and Boston snapped a three-game losing streak.

Christian Vázquez had a homer among his three hits and Mookie Betts reached base four times for the

Red Sox. PIRATES 5, CUBS 1: In Pittsburgh, Adam Frazier hit a three-run home run off Chicago’s Mike Montgomery after a long rain delay to lead the Pirates over the Cubs.

One game after tying a major league record by clubbing four doubles, Frazier finished 4 for 4 and scored three runs as the Pirates won for the ninth time in 13 games.

INDIANS 9, ROYALS 5: In Kansas City, Mo., Jake Bauers matched a career high with four hits, the Cleveland bullpen bailed Trevor Bauer out of a late jam and the Indians held on to beat the Royals.

Pitching a day after the death of his former teammate and friend Tyler Skaggs, Bauer (7-6) left nursing a 7-4 lead with the bases loaded and nobody out in the seventh.

PHILLIES 2, BRAVES 0: In Atlanta, Aaron Nola pitched eight innings, Jay Bruce hit a two-run double and Philadelph­ia spoiled Dallas Keuchel’s home debut with Atlanta.

Nola (7-2) hrew a career-high 117 pitches before Héctor Neris finished for his 17th save in 19 chances.

The second-place Phillies, winners of six of eight, trimmed the Braves’ NL East lead to 4½ games.

REDS 5, BREWERS 4 (11 inn.): In Cincinnati, Christian Yelich hit his major league-leading 31st homer for Milwaukee, but Yasiel Puig homered to start Cincinnati’s comeback and scored the winning run in the 11th, ending the Brewers’ streak of six straight wins at Great American Ball Park.

NATIONALS 3, MARLINS 2 : In Washington, Patrick Corbin pitched seven strong innings on an emotional night, and Trea Turner doubled home the winning run in the ninth as Washington beat Miami.

Yan Gomes reached on an error with one out in the ninth. With two outs, Turner doubled off Jose Quijada (0-2) and Gomes raced home.

A former teammate and close friend of Tyler Skaggs, Corbin wore Skaggs No. 45 rather than his own No. 46.

NOTES: John Sterling has called every Yankees game since 1989. That streak is about to end. The team’s radio play-by-play announcer will finally take a breather this weekend when the Yankees start a four-game series at Tampa Bay on Thursday — his 81st birthday. Sterling has worked 5,059 consecutiv­e Yankees games. … San Diego slugger Manny Machado sat out against San Francisco after Major League Baseball upheld his one-game suspension for confrontin­g an umpire.
