ST. PETERSBURG. Fla. — Travis d’Arnaud hit a two-out homer off Chad Green in the bottom of the ninth inning, lifting the Tampa Bay Rays past the New York Yankees 4-3 on Saturday.

Aaron Hicks had tied it at 3 in the top of the ninth for the Yankees, homering on a 2-2, two-out pitch from Colin Poche (2-1).

D’Arnaud’s winning homer against Green (2-3) into the right-field seats got the Rays back within 7½ games of the AL East-leading Yankees, who had won the first two games of a fourgame series in extra innings. Tampa Bay is 3-9 against New York this season.

It was just New York’s third loss in its last 19 games.

Nate Lowe hit a go-ahead two-run homer off CC Sabathia in the seventh that gave Tampa Bay a 3-2 lead.

PADRES 3, DODGERS 1: In Los Angeles, Hunter Renfroe hit his second late-inning home run in as many days and San Diego held on for a victory over Los Angeles.

Renfroe broke through in a scoreless pitchers’ duel with a blast in the seventh inning off Kenta Maeda. Renfroe also hit a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning of a victory over the Dodgers on Friday night.

MARLINS 5, BRAVES 4: In Atlanta, Yadiel Rivera hit a goahead, two-run single in the fifth inning as Miami beat Atlanta.

The Braves had been 9-1 against Miami before the Marlins snapped a five-game losing streak. The Marlins, who were 1-0 losers to Atlanta in the series opener, had 15 hits, including homers by Harold Ramirez and Starlin Castro.

INDIANS 7, REDS 2: In Cincinnati, Francisco Lindor homered twice and Roberto Perez connected on a tie-breaking shot in the eighth inning as Cleveland pulled away to beat Cincinnati.

The Indians have won nine of their last 11 games in Cincinnati and lead the intrastate series 62-50.

They’ve taken two of three this season.

Cleveland has won five in a row overall, matching its longest winning streak of the season.

Shane Bieber (8-3) gave one of his best performances a day after he learned he’d made the All-Star Game in Cleveland next week, replacing Texas’ Mike Minor. He allowed four hits in eight innings — three by Yasiel Puig , who had a two-run homer.

PIRATES 12, BREWERS 2: In Pittsburgh, Kevin Newman and Starling Marte each drove in three runs, leading Pittsburgh to a win over Milwaukee.

Newman had four hits, including a home run, after going 0 for 5 in a 7-6 loss to Milwaukee on Friday. Melky Cabrera also homered for the Pirates.

CUBS 6, WHITE SOX 3: In Chicago, Jon Lester pitched into the seventh inning as the visiting Cubs beat All-Star Lucas Giolito and the crosstown White Sox.

The two-game series figured to be a charged one with the Cubs in a funk for weeks and the White Sox looking like a team that’s breaking through after years of losing.

TWINS 7, RANGERS 4: In Minneapolis, Michael Pineda struck out a season-high nine over six efficient innings, and Jason Castro had two hits and three RBIs as Minnesota beat Texas.

Pineda (6-4) gave up five hits and a run on a homer in the sixth inning by Elvis Andrus. The right-hander had his most strikeouts since 2017 with the New York Yankees prior to a Tommy John surgery that sidelined him for all of 2018.

Marwin Gonzalez homered for Minnesota, which lead the majors with 166 home runs and already has matched its total from last season. Gonzalez is the 10th Twins player to reach double digits in homers.

NATIONALS 6, ROYALS 0: In Washington, Max Scherzer worked seven strong innings and Kurt Suzuki homered as Washington blanked Kansas City.

Scherzer (9-5) allowed four hits and struck out 11 with one walk. He has won seven straight starts.

ASTROS 4, ANGELS 0: In Houston, Yuli Gurriel homered for the fourth straight game and Gerrit Cole (9-5) pitched seven scoreless innings before two relievers completed the fourhitter, leading Houston over Los Angeles.

Gurriel’s solo shot extended Houston’s lead to 3-0 in the sixth and gave him a 10-game hitting streak.

METS 6, PHILLIES 5: In New York, Tomás Nido hit a threerun double that put New York ahead to stay in a victory over Philadelphia.

Jeff McNeil, leading the majors in batting, had four hits for the fourth time this season and the Mets snapped a six-game losing streak to Philadelphia.

RED SOX 10, TIGERS 6: In Detroit, Boston banged out 13 hits and scored seven runs off Detroit starter Jordan Zimmermann in 3⅓ innings in beating the Tigers. Detroit closed a seven-run deficit to 7-6 before Boston pulled away.

ORIOLES 8, BLUE JAYS 1: In Toronto, Andrew Cashner pitched seven strong innings to win his third straight start and Renato Nuñez hit a two-run home run for Baltimore.
