Trump’s health care promises aren’t credible LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

-

RE: OP-ED “Trump getting results on drug prices,” June 19

Fred Schuster’s (Region 6 director, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) puff piece on the HHS activities in the last year reads like campaign propaganda to me.

The Republicans know they will be criticized for curtailing the Affordabe Care Act in every possible way. The assertion that President (Donald) Trump will “continue charging ahead with delivering” on a “blueprint that puts American patients first” is ludicrous. This is a campaign ad, paid for by the Department of Health and Human Services.

Trump wrong to end gray wolf protections

THE TRUMP administration has released a plan to end gray wolf protections from coast to coast. It will take us back to the days when wolves were shot on sight, killed in traps and relentlessly persecuted.

I oppose the ... plan to strip protections from wolves because they play a huge role in keeping ecosystem (s) healthy. They help keep (the) deer and elk population in check, which benefits other animals and plants.

All politicians should recite, heed this prayer

RE: JOE Biden “Let us, on both sides, lay aside all arrogance. Let us not, on either side, claim that we have already discovered the truth. Let us seek it together as something which is know(n) to neither of us. For then only may we seek it, lovingly and tranquilly, if there be not bold presumption that it is already discovered and possessed.” — St. Augustine of Hippo If this quote were known to the current crop of presidential hopefuls, we would not have the candidates running around with their hair on fire because Joe Biden revealed he worked with segregationists and their ilk while in the United States Senate in order to get legislation passed.

And if this quote were read each morning in place of the traditional prayer before the opening sessions of the House and Senate, Congress might finally be able to get its work done.
