Kansas State wins 48-41 in shootout

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Skyler Thompson passed for 213 yards and ran for four touchdowns as Kansas States stunned fifthranke­d Oklahoma 48-41.

It was the first home win for the Wildcats (5-2, 2-2 Big 12) over Oklahoma (7-1, 4-1) since 1996, and just their fourth win ever over a top-five team. It also snapped the Sooners’ nationlead­ing 22-game road win streak — a span of five years and 22 days since their loss at TCU.

Oklahoma appeared to have recovered an onside kick with 1:45 left in the game, but the call was overturned on review because the ball had touched a Sooners player just short of the necessary 10 yards.

NO. 1 ALABAMA 48, ARKANSAS 7: In Tuscaloosa, Ala., Mac Jones passed for 235 yards and three touchdowns filling in for injured Alabama star Tua Tagovailoa as the Crimson Tide (8-0, 5-0 Southeaste­rn Conference) routed the Razorbacks (2-6, 0-5).

NO. 2 LSU 23, NO. 9 AUBURN 20: In Baton Rouge, La., Joe Burrow passed for 321 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score as LSU’s Tigers (8-0, 4-0 Southeaste­rn Conference) beat Auburn’s Tigers (6-2, 3-2).

LSU is off next week before going to No. 1 Alabama on Nov. 9.

NO. 3 OHIO STATE 38, NO. 13 WISCONSIN 7: In Columbus, Ohio, J.K. Dobbins rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns, Chase Young was nearly unblockabl­e with four sacks and the Buckeyes (8-0, 5-0) routed the visiting Badgers (6-2, 3-2)..

NO. 4 CLEMSON 59, BOSTON COLLEGE 7: In Clemson, S.C., Travis Etienne ran for 109 yards and three touchdowns, reserve receiver Diondre Overton caught three scoring passes and the Tigers (8-0, 6-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) blasted the Eagles (4-4, 2-3) for their 23rd straight victory.

NO. 6 PENN STATE 28, MICHIGAN STATE 7: In East Lansing, Mich., Sean Clifford threw four touchdown passes — three to Pat Freiermuth — and the Nittany Lions (8-0, 5-0 Big Ten) had little trouble shutting down the Spartans (4-4, 2-3).

NO. 19 MICHIGAN 45, NO. 8 NOTRE DAME 14: In Ann Arbor, Mich., Zach Charbonnet ran for two touchdowns in the first half and Shea Patterson threw for two scores in the second, helping the Wolverines (6-2) rout the Fighting Irish (5-2) in driving rain.

NO 12 UTAH 35. CALIFORNIA 0: In Salt Lake City, Zach Moss rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns as the Utes (7-1, 4-1 Pac-12) blanked the Golden Bears (4-4, 1-4).

In Fort Worth, freshman Max Duggan threw two touchdown passes, including a tie-breaking 44-yarder to Jalen Reagor the first play after one of Sam Ehlinger’s career-high four intercepti­ons, and the Horned Frogs (4-3, 2-2 Big 12) beat the Longhorns (5-3, 3-2).

NO. 17 MINNESOTA 52, MARYLAND 10: In Minneapoli­s, Rodney Smith ran for 103 yards to become Minnesota’s career leader in all-purpose yards, and Seth Green had two touchdown runs as the Gophers (8-0, 5-0 Big Ten) blasted Mike Locksley’s Terrapins (3-5, 1-4).

NO. 20 IOWA 20, NORTHWESTE­RN 0: In Evanston, Ill., the Hawkeyes (6-2, 3-2 Big Ten) allowed just 202 yards in shutting out the Wildcats (1-6, 0-5).

NO. 21 APPALACHIA­N STATE 30, S. ALABAMA 3: In Mobile, Ala., Zac Thomas threw for a touchdown and the Mountainee­rs (7-0, 4-0 Sun Belt) held the Jaguars (1-7, 0-4) to 139 total yards.

OKLAHOMA STATE 34, NO. 23 IOWA STATE 27: In Ames, Iowa, freshman Spencer Sanders threw for 249 yards and two TDs, and the Cowboys (5-3, 2-3 Big 12) beat the Cyclones (5-3, 3-2).

UCLA 42, NO. 24 ARIZONA STATE 32: In Pasadena, Calif., Joshua Kelley scored a careerhigh four touchdowns and rushed for 164 yards to lead the Bruins (3-5, 3-2 Pac-12) past the Sun Devils (5-3, 2-3).

WYOMING 31, NEVADA 3: In Laramie, Wyo., Xazavian Valladay rushed for a career-high 206 yards, Sean Chambers threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns, and the Cowboys (6-2, 3-1 Mountain West) defeated the Wolf Pack (4-4, 1-3).

AIR FORCE 31, UTAH STATE 7: At Air Force Academy, Colo., Timothy Jackson and Kaden Remsburg combined for 240 yards rushing as the Falcons (6-2, 4-1) handled the Aggies (4-3, 3-1).

SJSU 34, ARMY 29: In West Point, N.Y., Josh Love passed for 314 yards and three touchdowns, Matt Mercurio kicked four field goals, and San José State (4-4) stunned the Cadets (3-5).

COLORADO STATE 41, FRESNO STATE 31: In Fresno, Calif., Logan Stewart made an intercepti­on to set up Warren Jackson’s go-ahead touchdown with 3:29 left in the game as the Rams (3-5, 2-2) beat the Bulldogs (3-4, 1-2).

GA. SOUTHERN 41, NMSU 7:

In Statesboro Ga., Wesley Kennedy III and J.D. King ran for 143 yards apiece — each with two touchdowns — as the Eagles (4-3) jumped out to an early lead and coasted past the Aggies (0-8).

Jason Huntley led the Aggies, rushing for 133 yards and a score.

W. TEXAS A&M 35, ENMU 14:

In Portales, the Buffaloes (5-2, 2-2 Lone Star Conference) jumped to a 28-0 lead in racing past the Greyhounds (5-2, 3-2).

TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE 62, WNMU 21: In Commerce, Texas, the 23rd-ranked Lions (6-2, 4-1 Lone Star Conference) amassed 562 yards total offense in a rout of the Mustangs (1-7, 1-5).

SOUTH DAKOTA MINES 8, NMHU 7: In Rapid City, S.D., the Cowboys (1-6, 1-6 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) took a 7-0 third-quarter lead, then gave up a safety followed by touchdown with 21 seconds left in the game in falling to the Hardrocker­s (2-6, 1-6).
