Bond will preserve our many recreation opportunities
On Tuesday, Nov. 5, the citizens of Albuquerque will have the opportunity to vote for the proposed 2019 General Obligations (GO) Parks and Recreation Bonds. If approved by voters, the bonds would raise an estimated $16,830,000 for projects that will benefit every area of the city. Funds from the bonds will be used to: Renovate existing facilities Construct new facilities Purchase lands for future park and recreation facilities
Provide resources for the purchase of park management equipment for maintenance
The city of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Department protects, plans, enhances and maintains a park, open space and trails system that gives Albuquerque its sense of place. The facilities and programs managed by our Parks and Recreation Department are an important quality-of-life factor that contributes to the livability of our community. Our city’s high-quality system of parks and recreation resources provides a multitude of community benefits including protecting our environment, preserving wildlife habitat, strengthening local economies, attracting new businesses, contributing to the local tax base, increasing property values and providing programs and services that contribute to the health of our children, youth, adults and seniors.
Beautiful, inspiring and accessible parks and recreational facilities are essential to the health of our city. The passage of the bonds is needed in order to maintain, enhance and expand the high quality of our parks and recreation network. Improvements throughout our city will enhance our economic competitiveness by attracting travelers, skilled employees and jobs in a market increasingly focused on unique identity and engaging places.
