AROUND THE STATE

HERON LAKE: Snagging season officially begins at 12:01 a.m. Nov. 8.We’re hoping for good weather and lots of fish. The Game and Fish officers and workers from the fish hatcheries in Los Ojos have been out on the lake collecting salmon eggs since mid-October. As of last Tuesday, they have collected 2,275,144 eggs, reported Kenneth Erickson, assistant manager of the hatchery. With a few more days of trapping to continue, this will be by far the most productive eggs we’ve had collected in the past several years. The daily limit of kokanee is 10, but the total limit is 20 in possession. Enjoy your stay, but remember to always be considerate of others. Don Wolfley, Stone House Lodge
