Safety, success of city’s young people focal point of ‘Believe Albuquerque’
“Believe Albuquerque,” an initiative launched by AT&T, is focused on the safety and success of the city’s youths.
The program will key on education, homelessness and behavioral health, according to a news release from AT&T.
“Young people are Albuquerque’s most valuable and promising asset. They deserve to be safe and have the opportunities they need to succeed,” said Terri Nikole Baca, president of AT&T New Mexico. “By coming together as a company and community to focus on a common goal, we hope we can make a meaningful difference for them.”
AT&T is teaming with local organizations dedicated to erasing challenges facing Albuquerque’s youths and which have a proven track record of making a difference.
AT&T is providing financial support to help expand their efforts, as well as engaging employees to volunteer their time and expertise.
“We’re all in this together. It takes businesses teaming up with the community to face serious issues head on,” Mayor Tim Keller said in the news release. “We appreciate AT&T stepping up with funding for our service providers to help improve the well-being of our city’s young people. This is the spirit of One Albuquerque.”
AT&T is investing an initial $136,000 in contributions to local nonprofit organizations to help fund and expand their youthfocused programs. Contributions include:
$30,000 to New Day Youth & Family Services.
$30,000 to All Faiths Children’s Advocacy Center. $26,000 to Mission: Graduate. $25,000 to CLNkids. $20,000 to PB&J Family Services.
$5,000 to Albuquerque Museum Foundation.
