The numbers add up to say that president is guilty

-

NO ONE in the USA seems to add up the House and Senate votes in Trump’s impeachment trials. With the charge of abuse of power, 230 Democrats voted Yes; 197 Republicans voted No. Similarly, with the obstruction of Congress charge, 229 Democrats voted Yes; 198 Republicans plus one Democrat voted No.

In the Senate, 47 Democrats voted Yes on the obstruction of Congress charge; 53 Republicans voted No. Likewise, with the abuse of power charge, 47 Democrats with Republican Mitt Romney voting Yes; 52 Republicans voted No.

When adding the numbers of Democrats versus Republicans — using the lower number 229 for the House Democrats and 47 for the Democrats in the Senate — the total is 276. When adding up the Republicans in the House, the count is 198 plus one Democrat with them; the Senators were 53 — the total is 251.

When we look at total Democrat votes versus Republican votes, one can assert that 276 for the Blue side is higher than 251 for the Red side of the aisle. Bottom line: More votes by 25 went for the conviction of Trump. Therefore, the verdict of guilty is clear when eye-balling the numbers.

My teacher brain says the POTUS and all the media need to rethink their boasting of innocence. Numbers count in a democracy is what I have been told since my days as a student.

Once John Bolton’s book is read, another judgment will be made by both politicians and the public. Come elections in November, we all will see what the final USA decision will be regarding a problematic Trump.
